The well-being and safety of children and young people is a paramount concern of ElimKids OSCAR Programmes.
Our management and staff are committed to responding to concerns about the safety and wellbeing of children and recognize that this may have consequences for the status and reputation of the Organisation, management and staff. However, the interest and welfare of children and young people will always be the paramount consideration when any action is taken for suspected abuse.
ElimKids OSCAR will not tolerate abusive behavior of any kind, and promotes a culture of child protection, by making policies visible to parents and the community – including in enrolment information, and on noticeboards.
Our organisation supports the roles of statutory agencies (the Police, Oranga Tamariki) and will consult with them when necessary.
The Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014 requires a rigorous process for recruiting and screening staff who work with children. ElimKids OSCAR complies with this Act, in order to safeguard the programme from inappropriate persons. All staff are police-vetted, and thoroughly reference checked prior to contact with children. There is more information available in our Staffing Policies.
All staff complete annual professional development training in Child Protection. Staff, and management, will follow programme policies if abuse is suspected. To view our Child Protection Policy (or any of our Policies) please see the OSCAR Managers or Programme Supervisors
